PFS turned to Secondhandracking.com to provide a storage solution for their expanding product line within a new 70,000 sq ft distribution centre in Fareham.
Project Scope
PFS is the premier eCommerce fulfilment provider supporting leading retail brands health & beauty, apparel, jewellery, footwear and consumer packaged goods.
PFS required a pallet racking system for full pallets to be stored and retrieved, as well as lower-level picking to enable individual SKU’s to be picked from mixed pallets. Having worked together previously on a project with secondhandracking.com, and already seeing the cost saving benefits of choosing used racking, PFS were confident that secondhandracking.com could provide another high-quality storage solution to meet their requirements.
Challenge
PFS required a pallet racking system for full pallets to be stored and retrieved, as well as lower-level picking to enable individual SKU’s to be picked from mixed pallets. Solution
Working closely with PFS allowed Secondhandracking.com to understand their business and deliver a bespoke solution. Secondhandracking.com installed a VNA racking system designed to store pallets, with picking spaces tailored to fit perfectly with the warehouse structure dimensions, taking maximum advantage of the storage footprint. Due to the picking requirements of the warehouse and to fully optimise the space, their experienced project team worked with PFS to configure the passage corridors, the picking levels for non-palletised products in the warehouse, and the position of the new racking structures.
In addition to the above, Secondhandracking.com installed Protect-It pallet racking protection to all uprights, and end of aisle protection barriers to all extreme ends of the racking to comply with HSE requirements.
Secondhandracking.com managed the project throughout with phased handovers of sections so the client was easily able to move stock into the new warehouse quickly and store it efficiently throughout the life of the project.
