Warehouse racking relocation for Alan T. Carr
Alan T. Carr is one of the North West's leading distributors of bathroom, plumbing and heating products. Operating from its distribution facility in Lancashire the company supplies plumbing merchants and trade customers throughout the North of England.
Project Scope
SecondhandRacking.com was commissioned by Alan T. Carr to undertake the dismantling, relocation and re-installation of an Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR) system to a new 10,000 sq ft warehouse facility in Burscough.
The project formed part of an optimisation programme designed to improve warehouse efficiency whilst enhancing storage safety and flexibility. In addition to the racking relocation works, the project included the installation of anti-collapse mesh screening and timber decking.
Solution
Following a detailed planning and surveying phase, the SecondhandRacking.com team developed a comprehensive installation programme to ensure the project could be completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to warehouse operations.
The existing APR system was carefully dismantled and all reusable components were inspected before being re-installed in accordance with the approved warehouse layout.
To further improve warehouse safety, new anti-collapse mesh screens were supplied and fitted to a 3-bay run at the upper level of the racking system. Timber decking was also installed to the top beam level, creating additional storage flexibility for non-palletised products.
The Results
Once all drawings, risk assessments and project documentation had been approved, our installation team mobilised to site and completed all onsite works within just four days.
The SEIRs accredited team successfully erected all racking to specification while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship and site management.
The combination of detailed pre-planning and an experienced installation team enabled the project to be completed on schedule and without disruption to the client’s day-to-day operations.
- Successful dismantling and re-installation of the APR system.
- Completion of all onsite works within a four-day installation programme.
- Enhanced warehouse safety through anti-collapse mesh screening.
